Tata Tiago is an Indian city car produced by Tata Motors from 2016. It was created as part of the Tata Kite project. The Tata Tiago was initially known as the Tata Zica, with “Zica” standing for “zippy car,” but the name was changed because the car’s release coincided with the Zika virus outbreak. History of Tata Tiago
The Tata Tiago is the successor to the old Tata Bolt, which was essentially a restyled Tata Indica Vista. The Bolt, like the Indica Vista, did not achieve the required success, therefore Tata began developing an entirely new vehicle (the Kite project), a city car with a 5-door body, to enhance the brand’s sales in India.
The base platform was always the Tata X0 chassis, which was based on the previous Indica and Bolt but substantially modified and shorter since Tata Motors aimed to reduce the list price and production expenses with the new car. The engines were also entirely new, with the preceding versions’ Fiat 1.2 FIRE and 1.3 Multijet units being phased out. With the Tiago, Tata introduces the Revotron and Revotorq three-cylinder engines, which were developed in collaboration with Austria’s AVL and are part of a family of modular propellers that will be used across the whole range of the Indian company.
The Tiago was 3.75 metres long, little shorter than the original Tata Bolt, and had five doors on the body. Tata Tigor, a sedan derivative of the Tiago, has also been designed.
The petrol engine is a 1.2-liter Revotron three-cylinder 12V that produces 85 horsepower and 114 Nm of maximum torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel engine is a 1.1-liter Revotorq three-cylinder common rail 12V that produces 70 horsepower and 140 Nm of maximum torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Tata Motors Sanand facility produces the Tiago only in right-hand drive, and it is not planned to be imported into Europe.
Tata Motors released the Tiago NRG in India in September 2018, a crossover-style trim with a 10 mm higher, raw plastic bumper and sill guards, two-tone alloy wheels, and a rear bumper shield. Both a 1.2 petrol and a 1.05 diesel engine are available for the Tiago NRG.
Version of JTP
Tata introduced the Tiago JTP in October 2018, a sportier variant of the Tiago with a 1.2-liter Revotron Turbo engine that produces 114 PS, which is 29 PS higher than the other versions.

The car, according to Tata, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than ten seconds. The front grille has been altered, the front bumper has been replaced, and the rear has a twin exhaust pipe.
A makeover (2020)
In 2020, the Tata Tiago was given a makeover to go along with the Tigor. It came with visual upgrades as well as a BS6-compliant engine update. Tata has also added some new colours, notably Victory yellow, which was eventually phased out. Tata also released the Tiago in-CNG CNG version in 2022.
Rating for safety
The Global NCAP crash tested the Indian-made Tiago/Tigor under its basic safety criterion for the Indian market in 2020, awarding it four stars for adult occupant protection and three stars for kid occupant protection. Dual airbags are standard on all Tiago/Tigor models, although side airbags and ESC are not available as options. It does not have ISOFIX anchorages as an option, and all sitting positions lack three-point seatbelts and head restraints. During the crash test, its structure was determined to be incapable of withstanding additional loading.
