The second generation was initially introduced in 2019, while the first generation made its appearance in China in April 2014 as a concept car close to going into production. The Hyundai Alcazar, Creta Grand, or Grand Creta is a lengthier derivation of the second-generation vehicle that has seating for three rows. The car was made in China, India, Russia, Brazil, and Indonesia, among other places. The smaller, more technologically advanced Kona is provided in place of the Creta for developed markets like South Korea, the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia.
The Greek island of Crete inspired the naming of the fashion item. The name is also meant to imply associations with “creative.” It’s offered under the Hyundai Cantus nameplate in the Dominican Republic.
Since 2017, the Creta has dominated the Russian SUV market. In India, it is the best-selling SUV since 2020, and it is the third-best-selling Hyundai vehicle worldwide since 2019.

What has changed between the old and new Hyundai Creta?
We must expect change. The automotive industry is a glaring example of all the hype about the young replacing the new. The quality of the succeeding models has really contributed to the success of several of the best-selling cars over the years. In light of this, we decided it would be appropriate to shed light on the Hyundai Creta.
Motors:
The Creta of the previous generation offered three different power plant configurations. Three different engines were available: a 1.6-liter normally aspirated gasoline engine paired with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, a 1.4-liter diesel engine paired with a five-speed gearbox, and a 1.6-liter diesel engine paired with a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
This time, a six-speed manual or CVT gearbox is paired with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine. Then there is the 1.5-liter diesel engine parable, which comes with either a six-speed torque-converter automatic or a six-speed manual transmission. The 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine is the last one, and it only has a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Design:
The 2020 Creta looks radically different from the preceding model. Remember that we’re talking about the Creta’s 2018 facelift, which did include some cosmetic improvements. The brand-new Creta, however, has a more rounded form and contemporary features like LED headlamps and a dashboard layout. The 2020 Hyundai Creta appears much more in line with Hyundai’s current design language both inside and out.
With squared-off lines and a straightforward yet practical interior design, the earlier generation vehicle took a more traditional approach to the compact SUV. However, a lot has changed since then.
Dimensions:
The new Creta is 30mm longer and 10mm wider than the older Creta, as we previously announced. Additionally, it sports a 20mm longer wheelbase and 33 litres more cargo space. The height has decreased by 30mm, nevertheless. However, in terms of appearance, the Creta resembles the Venue’s older sibling. Don’t you think so?
