Chow is a combination of the nobility of a lion, the drollness of a panda, the appeal of a teddy bear, the grace and independence of a cat, and the loyalty of a dog. He exudes dignity and remains distant. Chows are believed to be the royal dogs of Northern China kept in aristocratic kennels.
